ge power 250 x 116GE Power are looking for a Mathematical and Statistical Methods Development Intern to join their Analytics & Digital Engineering team in Rugby.

GE are a world leader in multiple industrial sectors such as Power and Aviation. The team are constantly evaluating methods and algorithms that offer the opportunity to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our engineering design and analysis tools and processes. One particular area of their responsibilities is engineering design and analysis tool integration, and optimisation methods and tool development.

It is a 12-month placement in which the candidate will study, under the supervision of permanent staff within the team, mathematical and statistical methods, and artificial intelligence techniques for our engineering applications.  The scope of work is expected to be, but not limited to:

  • Perform literature search on mathematical and statistical modelling, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Methods Development
    • The candidate is expected to perform methods review based on the results of the literature search, recommend and select methods for detailed study and development.
    • Develop tools and processes working in collaboration with the team members and support their software integration and validation/verification as required.
  • Methods Application
    • Support of application of relevant methods to various engineering projects.

Ideally the candidate will be either an MSc or PhD graduate who is looking for work experience in industry.
