We are looking for a passionate, technically strong, and resourceful post or undergraduate student for a 612 month project to research and develop innovative technologies for analysing risk data hosted in the cloud using machine learning (ML) techniques.

Based in Nether Edge, Sheffield, our company is a small, yet rapidly growing business focused on delivering innovative Force.com enterprise applications for risk and claims management. Our clients include global enterprise companies and organisations such as Centrica, JLT, Directline and the Financial Conduct Authority. We were also a key supplier to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
All large organisations have to manage a wide variety of risks and incidents in order to meet regulatory requirements, identify mitigation strategies and drive growth. However, identifying common patterns of risks and incidents and understanding their potential for future impact on a large organisation is a real challenge.
The purpose of this project is to use emerging machine learning platforms and tools, such as https://prediction.io/ to offer a compelling new way for business users to interact with complex enterprise risk data.
The project will involve an initial investigation into the Salesforce platform and appropriate machine learning technologies, the selection of a specific ML technology, the testing of the webservice APIs, and the selection and implementation of some prototype engines for analysing the data.
The platform that will be used to manage the risk data is the Salesforce cloud platform. This is one of the fasted growing and successful cloud platforms for enterprise applications, and the project will involve utilising the Salesforce web service APIs to stream data to a hosted ML environment.
We are looking for students who:
- have strong software development and analytical skills, especially Java, .Net and related webbased programming languages.
- are motivated by new technology, and in particular ML and the cloud.
- strong mathematical background.
- have strong selfmotivation and drive to succeed.
- can show initiative and come up with new ideas.
- have experience/ knowledge of ML and/ or cloud technologies. This would be an advantage but not essential
- a salary of £13,000 £15,000 per annum, dependant on experience
- 25 days annual leave per annum
