Sheffield Volunteering: New Projects

Did you know that we’re always adding projects to Sheffield Volunteering? So even if you haven’t seen a project that takes your fancy, keep taking a look at the webpages to see what’s coming up;

Teambuilding with TimeBuilders
Give it a Go volunteering
Wednesday 18th November, 12.40-4.20pm

Help vulnerable adults who feel isolated to become better connected and build positive relationships with one another. Work alongside ‘TimeBuilders’ to run teambuilding workshops with local people. Sessions may include activities such as gardening, cooking and playing games.

Twin Cafe – People Before Profit
Twin Café is Sheffield’s coffee social enterprise selling fairly traded (and delicious) Nicaraguan coffee. All of their profits go towards three fantastic social projects in Sheffield, UK and Esteli, Nicaragua.

Twin Cafe are looking for enthusiastic coffee volunteers to learn to make and sell delicious coffee at their pop-up city centre cafe. Volunteers will also meet customers and sell bags of coffee at independent local markets and help to improve the work of Twin Cafe.

Send an email to Hugh Mather if you’re interested in taking part – hugh@twincafe.org

Neighbourhood Resolutions – South Yorkshire Police
Neighbourhood Resolutions is a scheme to empower local communities to deal with antisocial behaviour by using local volunteers as facilitators to work with individuals.

Volunteers will be trained in restorative justice enabling them to work with individuals in Barnsley, to empower them to think about how their situation could be improved and support them to achieve their aims.

If you would like to apply, please contact Julie Oxley on Julie.Oxley@southyorks.pnn.police.uk  or by calling 01226 736238

Save Our Sandwiches
A group of student volunteers are running a project with the aim to make sure that no good edible food is thrown away by university outlets on campus.

They’re recruiting volunteers to go around the union and university outlets to collect sandwiches. The volunteers will then pass the sandwiches on to local charities.

If you would like to take part in this project, please contact Michael Kind at mkind1@sheffield.ac.uk
